Non-Surgical Options for Restoring Your Youthful Face: Juvederm
Aging is a natural part of life. Unfortunately, as we age, our skin slowly loses its ability to weather the environment around us. Our hormones also go out of flux, causing our once-smooth skin to lose its elasticity and wrinkles to begin to take over our faces. Thankfully, you don’t have to have surgery to restore your good looks. There are non-surgical remedies that doctors can use to restore your face to its former beauty, remedies such as Juvederm.
What Is Juvederm?
Our skin’s ability to retain moisture and remain hydrated lessens as we age. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler that encourages the skin to absorb and retain moisture. When Juvederm is applied to trouble areas, the skin will once again retain an adequate amount of water, restoring the skin’s former elasticity and smoothness.
Juvederm treatments are similar to Restylane, as they are both forms of hyaluronic acid. However, both these treatments were developed using different techniques.
The Benefits of Juvederm
Juvederm is a minimally invasive treatment that will fix wrinkles and facial folds, including the deep nasolabial folds, which stretch diagonally from the sides of the nose to the sides of the mouth. It is not likely to cause an allergic reaction, as it isn’t made from any animal tissue. It can be used to treat individuals of all skin colors.
It is a dermal filler that is composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body. The treatment encourages water absorption and retention within the skin. Post-treatment, Juvederm will leave your skin looking smooth and natural. The results are typically immediate.
During the Juvederm injection treatment, the doctor will use a fine needle to inject Juvederm, a gel-based filler, into the skin. The injection of this gel will fill in wrinkles and smooth away facial folds. It will give the skin a smoother, firmer, and more youthful appearance.
Duration of Treatment
The effects of Juvederm treatments will last for approximately 12 months. After this time, many patients return for additional treatments to keep their faces looking beautiful and wrinkle-free.
Potential Side Effects
Most of the side effects experienced due to Juvederm treatments are not severe or long term. The targeted areas might see some degree of redness, swelling, or pain. There also may be bumps and bruising. These side effects shouldn’t last more than a week. In case the targeted area is the lips, the recovery will last longer due to the physiology of the lips.
Juvederm is said to be the next generation of dermal fillers. Results are immediate, and recovery time is minimal. Typically, this treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for individuals with allergies to lidocaine, bacterial protein, or a combination of allergies. It is also not a suitable treatment option for individuals below age 18.
